We provide Shout as a commissioned service to more than 100 public, corporate and third sector organisations. Our partners can offer their audiences a bespoke ‘keyword’ they can text to 85258 to access the Shout service and receive mental health support that’s free, 24/7 and confidential, staffed by trained Shout Volunteers and clinicians.

We give partners unique insight into the needs of their audiences, using anonymised data to provide high-level aggregated statistics and insights to help inform and improve the support and services they offer.

“Central to our rail suicide prevention programme is the belief that suicide is not inevitable. Our charitable partnerships, including Shout, build on the invaluable work we are doing to signpost passengers to mental health support options before they reach crisis point.”

How our keyword partnerships work

NHS Flow Chart Keyword Partnership.png

Benefits of a commissioned keyword service include:

  • Key account manager: who will be assigned for implementation support and throughout your entire contracted period
  • Bespoke keyword: this word will be related to your organisation, replacing the word 'SHOUT'
  • Keyword information on the Shout platform: this provides our volunteers with insight into the potential texter demographic that they're speaking to
  • Local signposting: towards up to three trusted signposts
  • Marketing support: designed by our marketing experts to help you promote your keyword
  • Keyword insight reporting: anonymised data insights to help you understand the issues your population are facing, and which demographics are reaching out for help

What partners say:

"We've seen a month-on-month increase in the use of the Sussex keyword and the anonymised data we receive as a keyword partner provides valuable insights about the mental health needs of our population.

One of the key benefits of the partnership is that Shout Volunteers can signpost texters to local services for ongoing support with their mental health. The feedback from people who are using the service has been positive."

Sarah Hall, Head of Programme - Mental Health Urgent & Emergency Care Transformation Sussex Health and Care

“This innovation aligns with the urgent and emergency mental health care support offer across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, supporting people to get access to mental health response 24/7 including those who may need urgent community response.

Developing this offer has increased our digital interface with our citizens to ensure we break down the barriers to health inequalities and equal access to all."

Sonya Mclean, Senior Programme Manager, Mental Health Crisis Care Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board

Case study: Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Shout works with the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, an organisation providing emotional, physical and financial support to the construction community and their families. The partnership aims to improve support access for those struggling with wellbeing issues by offering a way for anyone who feels uncomfortable speaking on the phone or difficulty finding somewhere to talk privately to seek help.

To date, trained Shout Volunteers have taken almost 1,000 conversations with more than 750 texters from the industry, who use the keyword ‘HARDHAT’ to access support.
