Volunteers from our corporate partners wagamama, Bank of England, The Restaurant Group and Selfridges joined us for some festive volunteering last week, as they helped us celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time keeping our digital mental health services Shout and The Mix running over Christmas.

Thanks to those who joined us from our corporate partners, we were able to write thank you cards for some of our longest standing volunteers, who generously give the gift of their time to provide vital mental health support to people who are struggling to cope, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year.

Across our digital services, Shout and The Mix, our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Every day at Shout, our volunteers take potentially life-saving conversations with people who suffer with issues ranging from suicide, anxiety and low mood to loneliness, stress and self-harm. In 2024 alone, our Shout Volunteers took 600,000 conversations with 240,000 texters, while our volunteers at The Mix have provided over 4,900 counselling sessions supported more than 1,090 young people.

During the event, our corporate partners chatted to some of our Shout Volunteers about what they do, the support they provide and the highlights of being a volunteer.

We are incredibly grateful to our corporate partners for the support they provide to us through their employee fundraising and volunteering, enabling us to continue providing digital mental health support to people across the UK. We’re looking forward to their continued support in 2025 as we look to support even more young people with their mental health through the provision of new tools and services, including self-paced learning modules, and single-session counselling interventions.

Our corporate partners

Bank of England:

Mental Health Innovations (MHI) is one of the Bank of England’s three charity partners for 2024 and 2025, alongside Trussell and The Childhood Trust. Bank of England supports MHI through employee fundraising, aiming to raise £70K over two years to support our mental health support services.

Selfridges:

MHI has worked with Selfridges for a number of years, most recently as its wellbeing charity partner. Selfridges has supported MHI through employee fundraising and volunteering, with its staff training to become Shout Volunteers.

The Restaurant Group:

The Restaurant Group started working with MHI in 2023, raising money through micro donations at their restaurants and bars. It is planning a big walking challenge to raise more money for Shout in 2025.

wagamama:

MHI started working with wagamama in 2023, which has organised several engagement events to provide mental health support in its local communities as well as focusing on raising awareness of volunteering with Shout to its staff and customers.
