We have recently launched PeerChat, a one-to-one peer chat service for young people aged 16 - 25.

PeerChat is a free, online service that enables young people to have a confidential, one-to-one webchat with a trained peer who understands what they’re going through. The service will offer a safe, inclusive space for young people to talk about what matters to them.

How it works

Through PeerChat, we provide pre-booked, one-to-one typed sessions with trained PeerChat Supporters. The sessions are confidential unless we’re concerned about someone’s safety, and can last up to 45 minutes.

PeerChat Supporters are there to listen, ask thoughtful questions, encourage reflection and support next steps, helping young people explore whatever is on their mind, including:

  • Stress, anxiety or low mood
  • Loneliness or feeling disconnected
  • Relationship or friendship issues
  • Identity and self-esteem
  • University, work or wider life pressures

All Supporters are trained and supported by the MHI clinical team.
