This literature review and report focuses on gaining insight into the impact of the cost of living crisis on the mental health of people across the UK. This is a narrative literature review that focuses on analysing and synthesising existing research and knowledge on this topic, allowing for a flexible, interpretative overview of key themes and challenges, providing context for the cluster of broad conclusions.

Cost of living and mental health

Alongside analysis of Shout’s dataset into conversations with people in distress due to their financial situation, this literature review helped to inform a communications campaign to raise awareness of Shout among people whose mental health has been impacted by the cost of living crisis.
