We were delighted to host a webinar in conjunction with The Harry Kane Foundation and another charity it supports called Bounce Forward to mark World Mental Health Day, bringing together experts in the sector to talk about how meaningful connections can help boost our resilience and support our wellbeing.
The webinar, hosted by MHI’s Clinical Director Sarah Kendrick and the Founder of Bounce Forward Lucy Bailey, focused on the tools and practical steps people can take to build their resilience. It also featured a special video from Harry Kane himself, introducing the webinar topic and talking about how his own meaningful connections have played a role in developing resilience and wellbeing.

Attendees were taken through some of the ways we can build our resilience, including practising self-compassion and kindness to ourselves and others, expressing gratitude, knowing what allows you to experience positive emotions and connecting with others in an authentic and meaningful way.
As Lucy said: ‘Remember, it’s about being good enough, not perfect. We’re all growing and learning, it’s about trying rather than having it all figured out.’
Sarah and Lucy also spoke about the ways meaningful connections can boost our wellbeing, and how we can develop relationships that help us to connect with others, including showing someone you’re ready to listen, asking ‘what’ and ‘how’ questions to understand rather than to ask ‘why’, using reassuring statements and validation and checking in with someone more than once.
As part of our ongoing partnership, we were also thrilled to be able to let attendees know about the upcoming release of our latest self-paced learning module focusing on resilience, created in partnership with the Harry Kane Foundation. You can visit www.themix.org for more information.
